DESPERATE! Or you know, not.

I must be giving off a desperate vibe or something. Two different people (although they could be working together) have tried to set me up on dates. A third friend has been trying to convince me to join some online dating site she used to use.

I can't decide if I'm just too resistant to new ideas for meeting people or if all these options really are as sad as they seem in my head. Ok I actually can decide and they are. Really I'm just waiting to see if the set up girl is cute. Sue me.

There's a Mozart song that I've always loved. I don't even know the name of the piece, but the main melody is one that always gets stuck in my head.

I loved it until I discovered it's the only song that VMWare technical support plays in their hold queue. When you factor in that I've spent 2 hours on hold in the last couple of days, you can start to see how the song loses some of its appeal.

Canada is cold, but I'm finding that it's not a terrible place to live.

I really wish there was a way to talk about some of the experiences here. I'm finding that this is true for a lot of my life though. There have been some intensely personal moments in the last year and it feels vulgar to pour my heart out on an anonymous webpage. But there are times where I wish that I could be more open and not feel like I've said too much.

Maybe I'll go friends-only and see if that helps. Who knows.

Today is my third night in four days that I've worked past 4am on a project. On the plus side, our SAN utilization is now well below the 96% it was at yesterday. I guess that makes it worthwhile.

Tomorrow night is when I push all the servers back out to the high-performance drives and then I'm done. I'm almost gonna miss driving home from work as the sun is getting ready to rise.

negativepositive.org <-- read it

I read the following paragraph and realized just how numb I've gotten to living around the loudest jackasses known to man. Basically everything described here is what goes on every night.

"While the whopping phone log is printing at a turtle's pace, we have time to explain the ghetto cell phone factor itself. The main reason the girl was acting as though Sprint was trying to strip her of her pride is linked inextricably to this concept. There are two essential material possessions which lowly ghetto trash needs in order to feel like they've made it in life, despite the fact that they never will: a cell phone and a loud stereo. While these items are hardly covetable status symbols for most people, especially people who are actually gainfully employed, to the ghetto psyche, possessing them means you've 'arrived.' Anyone with even the lowliest McJob could afford them, but they're crown jewels to people who think being called ghetto or thug are compliments. The loud stereo is important. People who hold absolutely no sway over anything of significance in their lives need this to gain a feeling of dominance, and let me tell you, as someone who lived above inconsiderate ghetto idiots with a booming stereo, the power they wield might be petty, but it's definitely real. Gaining the ability to annoy the living shit out of people far and wide until they thirst for your blood for a price tag under a thousand dollars is a considerable status gain for people whose greatest accomplishment in life is getting their GED[...]"

Michael W. Smith --> Devil lover!

Who knew? Certainly not anybody who uses their brain.

--------------------------

Something else very alarming is in "Michael W Smith". The "M" in Michael and the "T" in Smith is part of the Runic (runic means secret) alphabet used in witchcraft and satanism!

The Dictionary of Cults, Sects, Religions and the Occult, says of the "rune", "From the German word raumen, meaning 'secret' or 'mystery'. . . For witchcraft a rune is a magical chant. There are various rune alphabets used by occult groups"..(Mather, George A. and Larry Nichols, The Dictionary of Cults, Sects, Religions and the Occult, p. 235)

Author and occult symbol researcher, Dr. Cathy Burns, was so alarmed by Michael W. Smith's use of the runes on his Big Picture album, she wrote Smith requesting an explanation. Here is her reply:

"When I wrote to Smith about this, his manager responded. He denied that the record contained runic characters, but he did tell me that if I wanted to know more about runes that I should check out my library for more information! He may not be fully endorsing the runes, but he certainly didn't try to warn me that runes were occultic symbols." (Dr. Cathy Burns, Masonic and Occult Symbols Illustrated, p. 288)

In the book, Web of Darkness, former satanist Sean Sellers says, "Runes are the oldest form of occult knowledge and magic . . . their use sets a person against God."

Source: http://www.av1611.org/crock/crockex2.html

--------------------------

This line of thinking is frighteningly stupid. If you read the rest of the website (which I don't recommend unless you're a masochist) you'll see that the person writing has a CLEAR agenda to promote that's well-served by a shameful lack of understanding in basic logic.

For starters, there's no indication that the "runic" letters are anything more than a simple substitution. The "runes" look almost exactly like the letters they were replacing and served to compliment the graphical theme that the rest of lettering used. I'm honestly a little surprised the guy didn't mention that in Dick Tracy comics the bad guys use that same kind of mismatched font lettering for ransom notes therefore Michael W. Smith must be a child-molesting pervert.

It's silly, I agree. Had it stopped there, it would just be a funny little "Oh that guy must have been beat up by a Christian musician in junior high" kinda article. But if you read that site, you'll see that the character-assassination pieces open with a logical misstep and then use that misstep as the foundation for all kinds of snide personal attacks.

The P.O.D. article is recent enough to mention the "Did Traa drop the F-bomb" confusion in Guitar World, but not honest enough to note that Guitar World posted a retraction the month after indicating it was a transcription error by the interviewer. I can only imagine how I'm furthering the cause of Satan by believing them.

The best example of "promote my agenda at all costs" is in the Carmen paragraph:

"An 'enlightening' display of irony occurred when Carman printed his back page ad for "Halloween 3:16" in the Oct. 29, 1998 'Life' section of USA Today. It seems there was a slight typographical error. . . The ad stated referring to Carman - 'See Him live.' The 'h' in 'him' was 'capitalized'. To capitalize a 'pronoun' (other than the beginning of a sentence) is to emphasize deity or God! The capitalization of a pronoun is reserved for God ONLY!"

So, because there was a typo in the ad, Carmen is a self-aggrandizing demigod. You heard it here first, folks: Typographical errors are a sign that you're itching to steal the throne right out from under God.

Let's close with a textbook case of the fallacy of equivocation:

"When it is rock, it is not Christian. There is only one 'Christian rock' and 'THAT ROCK WAS CHRIST' (1 Cor 10:4). 'For their rock is not as our Rock, . . .' Deuteronomy 32:31"

Just in case you miss the leap there, here's another example:

All jackasses have long ears.
This author is a jackass.
Therefore, this author has long ears.
